Amparian is the most exciting eating experience in Filey combining Spanish Tapas with fine wines and beers in a relaxed but stylish restaurant.
You will find everything from Calamares (lightly battered squid) to Albóndigas en tomate (meat balls in Amparian’s special sauce), and Chorizo a la sidra (chorizo in cider) to Salmón de fiesta (grilled salmon with red onion marmalade and salsa verde).
Right, Albóndigas (Spanish meat balls in Amparian's special sauce)
To get the atmosphere going, you can accompany your tapas selection with a specialist Spanish beer, wine, or a jug of sangría. Whatever your eating preferences, you can be assured of friendly service and food of the highest standard.
If you want some help deciding what to order, Amparo, your head waitress, will be happy to offer guidance or make a few suggestions.
You will generally find around twenty four regular dishes on the menu, plus a specials board which varies on a seasonal basis, e.g. Pimientos de Padrón (little fried green peppers from the town of Padron) – a summer speciality.
If you like beer, we have specialist Spanish beers (e.g. Mahou), and how about an Albarino wine from the Pontevedra province of Northern Spain.

Above left, Tarta de Santiago, a regional dessert from the North of Spain.
Not too sure what Tapas is!
If you have not had Spanish tapas before, take a look at our Some advice on tapas page. This page will tell you more about this sociable and adventurous way of trying out lots of different and manageable sized dishes. It makes a change from the more conventional starter and main course format that most traditional restaurants offer.
This style of eating is great for families or groups of friends and the food is nearly always a fun talking point – as well as being good to eat.
Amparian is run by husband and wife team Ian and Amparo (hense the name Ampar-ian), with Ian, a trained chef, running the kitchen, and Amparo managing the "front of house". If the name sounds familiar, this is because they have also run tapas restaurants in Pickering and Villagarcía in Northern Spain. As her name suggests, Amparo is Spanish and Ian, although English, has worked as a chef in Spain. This combination means that Amparian is a genuinely authentic Tapas Bar, but one situated in Filey, North Yorkshire, rather than in Spain.
Both Ian and Amparo look forward to welcoming you to a unique dining experience at Amparian.
To be sure of a table please pre-book, especially at weekends and during holiday periods. Gracias.
