Amparian - Share a taste of the good life with friends

Amparian is the most exciting eating experience in Filey combining Spanish Tapas with fine wines and beers in a relaxed but stylish restaurant.

You will find everything from Calamares (lightly battered squid) to Albóndigas en tomate (meat balls in Amparian’s special sauce), and Chorizo a la sidra (chorizo in cider) to Salmón de fiesta (grilled salmon with red onion marmalade and salsa verde).

To get the atmosphere going, you can accompany your tapas selection with a specialist Spanish beer, wine, or a jug of sangría. Whatever your eating preferences, you can be assured of friendly service and food of the highest standard.

Amparian is run by husband and wife team Ian and Amparo (hense the name Ampar-ian), with Ian, a trained chef, running the kitchen, and Amparo managing the "front of house". If the name sounds familiar, this is because they have also run tapas restaurants in Pickering and Villagarcía in Northern Spain. As her name suggests, Amparo is Spanish and Ian, although English, has worked as a chef in Spain. This combination means that Amparian is a genuinely authentic Tapas Bar, but one situated in Filey, North Yorkshire, rather than in Spain.

If you want some help deciding what to order, Amparo will be happy to offer guidance or make a few suggestions.

You will generally find around eighteen to twenty four regular dishes on the menu, plus a specials board which varies on a seasonal basis, e.g. Pimientos de Padrón (little fried green peppers from the town of Padron) – a summer speciality.

If you like beer, we have specialist Spanish beers (e.g. Estrella de Galicia and Mahou), and how about an Albarino wine from the Pontevedra province of Northern Spain.
